Discipline is very important to educate someone in the truth.  Usually, this expression of discipline is applied in the family, school, workplace, and public places. there are rules that we need to know and obey.  Also, many Bible verses mention self discipline, and spirituality encompassing all areas of our lives.

In some situations, discipline can be very necessary.  If there is no discipline, the results will not be good.  The resulting impression is irregular, inappropriate, distorted, or not on time.  Discipline from God was given to make His servants not deviate.  This discipline is also proof of God's love.


From the beginning until now God has never changed.  He wants his people to be disciplined and obedient.  How do we know?  To find out the answer, try to see what God's Word says in the Bible verses below.

1. Ephesians 4:14

So we should no longer be children, tossed about as by waves and carried here and there by every wind of teaching by means of the trickery of men, by means of cunning in deceptive schemes.,”

Today's world tends to change.  This shows that human views also always change.  The same is true for disciplining which reflects changes in society.  Following the verse in the book of Ephesians, that humans will be tossed about as by waves and carried here and there with every teaching by humans themselves.  Only the Bible is a reliable provider of advice.

2. 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,”

The Bible is a gift from God that has great benefits for anyone who humbly wants to read it.  It contains teachings and wisdom that can teach, declare mistakes, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness

3. Proverbs 13:24

Whoever holds back his rod hates his son, But the one who loves him disciplines him diligently.”

In family life, parents will teach their children.  There is no pleasant discipline and even it needs firmness in carrying it out.  Parents who love their children will surely do it for the good of the child to be able to live well.  Conversely, parents who do not discipline their children are parents who do not care.

4. Galatians 6:7

Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap.”

5. Colossians 3:20

You children, be obedient to your parents in everything, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord..”

One of the principles in the Bible for children is to obey their parents.  This is an order from God for children to do.  It is important to discipline the child so that he has a bright and obedient future for parents.  God gave this command so that children could be and get good results if they were disciplined.

6. Jeremiah 30:11

For I am with you,” declares Jehovah, “to save you. But I will make an extermination among all the nations to which I scattered you; However, you I will not exterminate. I will discipline you to the proper degree, And I will by no means leave you unpunished.”

In this verse in Jeremiah's book, God set an example for parents to follow.  That quality must be based on love, consistent, and reasonable.  it makes sense means to give orders or appropriate advice and at an appropriate level relatively.

7. Proverbs 23:13

Do not hold back discipline from a boy. If you strike him with the rod, he will not die.

A child can be caring and kind from childhood, but parents need to remember that this does not mean they will not do stupid things.  Even so, children need to be disciplined.  So, this advice applies to all parents not to hold back discipline from a child.

8. Hebrew 12:11

True, no discipline seems for the present to be joyous, but it is painful; yet afterward, it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Parents sometimes afraid when they will discipline their children for fear that the child will hate them.  However, if discipline is given lovingly, children can learn to accept advice humbly.  Because these properties can be useful when they grow up.

9. Proverbs 29:21

If a servant is pampered from his youth, He will become thankless later on.”

Parents who spoilt their children can have a bad impact on their children.  Why?  Later children will hardly feel that parents have authority.  If you as a parent do not show that authority, the child may think that he has power and as a result, the child can make the wrong decision until he becomes a stubborn person.

10. Romans 12:3

For through the undeserved kindness given to me, I tell everyone there among you not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think, but to think so as to have a sound mind, each one as God has given to him a measure of faith..”

Christian parents who try to educate their children in the truth it started with parents who marry and live together, none of them selfish.  Relationships with husband and wife are the most important to show the role of parents.  Children also will not think more than he is should be.
